TEN REPRODUCTIONS

RUTH BERNHARD

Ruth Bernhard says that she is a self taught photographer who started professionally in 1930 and whose greatest influences were Edward Weston, Rainer Maria Rilke (poet) and Michelangelo. Presently she works, teaching and photographing in San Francisco.

"Is a blade of grass as miraculous as the whole firmament and of equal value?

"Life and death are two words for the same thing—all fragments of the living order; the illumination of which leads to the underlying philosophy of the expression of creative artists. And as in a mirror, the responsive observer will discover in their work not only the artist’s reflection but his own image as well. This way ive share and communicate and fulfill a deep human need.”
